ICTERP Community is now open source on GitHub

The ICTERP Home page with app tiles grouped into sections

ICTERP Community is now open source on GitHub. The modules that turn Odoo 19 Community into ICTERP, from the app Home page to the full education suite and payroll, are public at github.com/ictinnovations/icterp under the LGPL-3. You can download them, run them on your own server and change them, free.

What’s in the repository

Eleven modules, all built for Odoo 19 Community:

  • Branding and the Home page. The ICTERP name, icons, colours and emails, and a Home page with app tiles grouped into sections, which Odoo only ships in its paid edition.
  • The education suite. Students, admissions, timetables, attendance, exams and fees, plus a student and parent portal, course registration with GPA and transcripts, bank fee challans, exam date sheets and seating, online admissions with merit lists, and outcome based education for accreditation.
  • Payroll. Salary structures, payslips and batches, built on OCA Payroll. Odoo’s own payroll is also an Enterprise app.

The README walks through a Docker quick start, and every module carries its own tests. The education apps sit on OpenEduCat Community, which a script fetches at the version we test with.

Why we opened it

Schools, colleges and small businesses kept asking the same thing: can we see the code before we commit? Now they can. Open code also lets an in-house developer, or any partner a customer chooses, fix and extend ICTERP without waiting for us.

It changes nothing for our Enterprise customers. They still get setup in their own brand, support, ICT Monitor and the yearly move to the next Odoo version. Calling through ICTContact and website chat history from ICTDesk stay Enterprise add-ons with their own licences, because those connectors belong with the products they connect to.

How it compares with plain Odoo Community

Odoo Community is a strong base, but a few things most organisations expect are only in Odoo Enterprise: an app Home page, payroll and any education management at all. ICTERP Community fills those gaps with open source modules, and it contains no Enterprise code. The full comparison is in the repository README and on our open source ERP page.

Where to start

  • Developers: clone the repository and follow the quick start.
  • Schools and businesses who’d rather not run servers: see editions and prices for Enterprise.
  • Everyone: the user guides cover each app with screenshots, including the new Home page.

FAQ

Is ICTERP Community really free?

Yes. The modules are LGPL-3, the same licence as Odoo Community. You pay only if you want us to set it up, support it or add our communication products.

Which Odoo version does it need?

Odoo 19 Community, with PostgreSQL 13 or newer. It doesn’t need Odoo Enterprise and doesn’t include any Enterprise code.

Are the ICTContact and ICTDesk connectors included?

No. Calling and chat history come with ICTERP Enterprise, together with ICTContact or ICTCRM and ICTDesk licences.

Can I contribute?

Please do. Open an issue or a pull request on GitHub. The contributing guide explains what makes a review quick.

How do I report a security problem?

Privately, through our ticket desk, rather than in a public issue.
