Manufacturing basics

Describe what a product is made of, then build it with a production order.

Manufacturing turns parts you hold in stock into finished products. You describe the recipe once, in a bill of materials, and then each production order uses it.

Create a bill of materials

  1. Make sure the finished product and its parts exist as products with Track Inventory ticked. See Purchasing, stock and deliveries.
  2. Go to Manufacturing, Products, Bills of Materials and press New.
  3. Pick the finished product, then add each component and the quantity one unit needs.

Build it

  1. Go to Manufacturing and press New to create a production order.
  2. Pick the product and the quantity. ICTERP fills in the components from the bill of materials.
  3. Press Confirm. ICTERP checks whether the components are in stock.
  4. When the work is done, enter the quantity produced and mark the order as done.

The components leave stock and the finished products arrive in it, in one step. Both show in Inventory straight away.

If a component is short, the order says so before you start. Order more from your supplier in Purchase, receive it, and the production order becomes ready.
